Computer Workstations
Policy: Library workstations serve the teaching and research mission of the University and have been provided for the purpose of making available to library users a wide variety of bibliographic, reference and other databases and web sites. Uses inconsistent with this mission are disallowed. The appropriation of library workstations by individuals for recreational or personal use is not permitted.
Public Use: Computers for public use are available on all floors of the library. These workstations have access to the Internet, and most have Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. There are Macintosh computers in the Infolab (available only to those with UW ID), but nowhere else in the library.
For short term use:- Lobby
- 1st Floor West Corridor
- Stacks
- Reference Department (Rm. 262)—multiple workstations
- 2nd Floor West Corridor—multiple workstations
- Memorial Library InfoLab (available only to those with UW ID)
Students, Faculty, and Staff Use: In addition to the public use computer workstations, UW students, faculty, and staff have access to laptop computers.
- Laptops can be borrowed from the Infolab (DoIT) for 3 days.

Network Access
Wireless Computing
- For UW students, faculty and staff: Wireless access is available throughout Memorial Library. To connect to the wireless network: meet the requirements and upon opening your web browser you will be asked to log-in using your NetID & password.
- Wireless Network Printers are located in the Memorial Library InfoLab.
- For non-UW users: Anyone may obtain a Guest NetID for wireless access from a supervisor at the Circulation Desk or from a staff person at the Reference Desk, 262 Memorial

Printing

Payment is by Debitcard only and copies cost $.07 per page.
There is a color laser printer available in the Memorial Library InfoLab (students, faculty, staff only)
Printers for the Wireless Network are located in the Memorial Library InfoLab(students, faculty, staff only)
Scanning
There is one public access scanner located behind the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor (Room 262 D/E). With this scanner workstation you can digitize and manipulate: color/b&w image files (.jpg/.gif/.tiff/.psd) using Adobe Photoshop; digitize print documents; or save Microsoft Office documents in the PDF format. The scanner is attached to a workstation running Windows XP Professional which supports saving scanned files to a floppy disk, CD-ROM, or USB flash drive.
InfoLab (DoIT)
The InfoLab (DoIT) provides various computer hardware (including MacIntosh computers and laptops), software, and technical assistance for students, faculty, and staff.
Assistive Technologies
One adaptive computer workstation in Reference Department, Room 262, includes these features:- Adjustable table

- Intellikeys adapted keyboard
- Trackball for Graphical User Interface use
Two adaptive computer workstations in InfoLab (DoIT), Room 140
- Available to students, faculty, staff
- Includes Braille printer and other assistive technology

Additional services for patrons with disabilities are available throughout the library.
